Creative Jagat’s Sharodiya Contest: Celebrating Culture Amidst the Pandemic

During the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic, Creative Jagat brought joy and cultural celebration to the community by organizing the Sharodiya Contest. The results of this engaging and festive contest were declared on October 28, 2020. The contest featured two main categories: a Costume Competition focusing on Indian Bengali cultural dress and an Art Competition centered around the theme of Durga Puja.

Costume Competition
Participants in the Costume Competition showcased their creativity and cultural pride by donning traditional Indian Bengali attire. The winners were chosen based on voting conducted on Creative Jagat’s Facebook page, allowing the community to engage and support their favorite entries.

Art Competition
The Art Competition was divided into three groups, encouraging participants of all ages to express their artistic talents with Durga Puja as the subject. The selection process for this competition was a two-step affair:
1. Voting Round: The best 20 artworks were shortlisted based on votes from the Facebook community.
2. Judging Round: Esteemed artist Angaraj Bardhan from Silchar then evaluated the top 20 voted artworks to select the final winners.

This two-step process ensured both community participation and expert evaluation, making the competition fair and exciting.

Creative Jagat’s initiative provided a much-needed cultural connection during the pandemic, fostering creativity and community spirit. By leveraging social media, they not only adhered to safety guidelines but also reached a wider audience, making the Sharodiya Contest a memorable event for all participants and viewers.
